What You’ll Get
GREAT CHEFS – HAVE 12 REASONS TO LEAVE YOUR DIET

Just for one night‚ or, if you really want to indulge, just for twelve nights. Forget the sprouts and yogurt. In one single hour, twelve Great Chefs give you a dozen spectacular reasons to forget your waistline on GREAT CHEFS DESSERTS©.

Like all of the GREAT CHEFS television specials, DESSERTS takes you right into the actual kitchens with the chefs as you watch then beat whipping cream into peaks, flame bananas with rum sauce, and press pecans into the rich chocolate glaze topping a bourbon-soaked cake. The chefs and their restaurants are among the best in the United States ‚ Jean Banchet of Chicago, André Soltner of New York, Max Schacher in San Francisco, Gunter Preuss in New Orleans.

For people who think dessert always involves chocolate, the program includes Chocolate and Bourbon Pecan Cake, and Progrès with Two Chocolate Mousses. But if you´re willing to be open-minded about desserts, the program has many other options. Poached Pear Stuffed with Ice Cream, Stanford Court Bread Pudding from the Stanford Court Hotel in San Francisco, Walnut Pie a la Mode, Crème Caramel, Cinnamon Peach Tart, Warm Apple Tart, and a Grand Marnier Soufflé are all presented. Carolyn Buster in Chicago makes her Cottage Raspberry Cake, and Gunter Preuss creates Strawberry Crepes. Also included is a dish which has become a signature for Brennan´s in New Orleans, and for New Orleans itself: Bananas Foster. For this dish, chef Michael Roussel creates a sauce of banana liqueur, sugar, and cinnamon, then sautés banana halves slightly before placing them over vanilla ice cream. The hot sauce and flaming rum are spooned over the bananas as they are served.

GREAT CHEFS DESSERTS© is a full hour of indulgence, but the steps are carefully given and the presentation is shown so that the dishes can be duplicated at home. And enjoyed.

GREAT CHEFS DESSERTS© is a production of Great Chefs Television in New Orleans, U.S.A.; John Shoup, executive producer; John Beyer, writer/director.
