- Fresh mint leaves - 20 (approx.) small
- Simple syrup (recipe follows) - 1/3 ounce
- Ice - crushed
- Bourbon - 2 ounces 90- to 100-proof
- Brandy - 1/2 ounce
Put mint leaves in a 14-ounce glass or mug. Add syrup and water to almost fill the glass and crush the leaves with a muddler. Fill with crushed ice. Add bourbon and mix vigorously with muddler until the drink turns slightly green. Add more ice and the brandy. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
