Chef Biography
Jean-François Taquet was born and raised in France, and in 1973 began working as Commis de Cuisine at La Table Des Cordeliers in Condom, France, along with Great Chef Jean-Louis Palladin. After three years, in 1976, he moved to Restaurant St. James in Bordeaux for a year before Chef Freddy Girardet made him Chef de Partie at Restaurant Girardet in Switzerland in 1978.
In 1979, he rejoined Great Chef Jean-Louis Palladin as sous chef at his new Restaurant Jean-Louis in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC. Two years later in 1981, he moved north to Philadelphia to work as Chef de Restaurant at La Truffe for two years before becoming executive chef at the Four Seasons Hotel across town.
In 1987, he opened his own Restaurant Taquet and Bistro Bravo in Radnor, Pennsylvania, and moved it to Wayne, Pennsylvania in January of 1992, inside the Wayne Hotel. In 1993, the Great Chefs television crew arrived to tape Chef Taquet for the Discovery Channel’s Great Chefs of the East television series, and he is seen in episodes 20 and 24.
Chef Taquet closed his restaurant in 2003, and retired to New Zealand.
