Chef Biography
Franz Augustin was born and raised in Austria. Like so many youngsters, he was attracted to pastry and went on to train and apprentice in different restaurants around Austria, advancing his way upwards within their kitchens. In 1990, he joined the famous Demel’s K.u.K.Hofzuckerbacker, which originally opened its doors back in 1786, and is still open today, in 2016.
In May of 1998, the Great Chefs television team taped Chef Augustin at Demel’s for Austria’s ORF-TV’s series, Great Chefs of Austria and the Discovery Channel’s Great Chefs of the World television series (episode 248).
