Chef Biography

Chef George McKirdy learned his craft from his mentor Michel Fitoussi (formerly of New York’s Regine’s) and he later was the pastry chef for Robert De Niro’s TriBeCa Grill. He opened the flagship Nobu Restaurant before joining up with Great Chef Douglas Rodriguez in 1997 to open Aquarella Restaurant in the El San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico. Great Chefs showed up for the opening and taped Chef McKirdy preparing a Tropical Fruit Pudding for their Great Chefs of the Caribbean series.

In 2004 Chef George was the opening pastry chef at Blue Fin in New York’s Times Square and six years later, he opened the Astor Bake Shop & Heavens Door Café in 2010 until the present.
