Chef Biography

John Foster was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the CIA in 1983.  He apprenticed at the Manor in West Orange, New Jersey, then worked his way up the kitchen ladder at different hotels and restaurants until he joined Hemingway’s in Killington, Vermont as pastry chef in 1991.

In 1993, the Great Chefs television team showed up at Hemingway’s to tape Chef Foster for PBS and the Discovery Channel’s television series, Great Chefs of the East (episode # 1). Hemingway’s closed in 2012, after a 30-year run.
