Chef Biography

Ramon Martinez Mariso was born in Barcelona, Spain. Following school, he attended Escuela Joviat de Manresa culinary school in Manresa, Spain.  He apprenticed under Chef Frederic Bau at Valrhona, Albert Adria of El Bulli, and Eric Ortuno at Hoffmann Pâtisserie before moving back to Barcelona, Spain.

In 1999, he joined ABAC Restaurant in Barcelona as pastry chef, and two years later, in December 2001, Great Chefs television showed up to tape Chef Mariso preparing a tostada of strawberries, compote of rhubarb and lavender ice cream, for the Discovery Channel’s Great Chefs of the World series (episode # 258).
