Chef Biography

Roberto started his career working in the kitchens of the most prestigious cruise ships in the Mediterranean—and eventually moored permanently at Liguria. He fell in love with the area, enchanted by the sea, climate, scents and excellent regional produce.

He has headed the kitchen of the Chuflay Bar & Restaurant at Splendido Mare since 2001, carrying on a tradition of excellent regional cuisine. During this time, he has delighted the palates of stars and world leaders, such as Madonna, President Putin and Queen Rania of Jordan, as well as those of the regular guests who return to Portofino year after year. He is so appreciated by our customers that, during the winter closure, he caters for private events at their homes around the world.
