Chef Biography

Steven Krizman was born and raised in the Midwest, and has been in the kitchen since age 14. He went to school at Black Hawk Junior College in Moline, Illinois where he studied pastry.   He apprenticed under Great Chef Michael Ostrander, and his first job was with the Walt Disney Resort in Buena Vista, Florida in 1987.

He was executive pastry chef in 1988 at Inspirations Fine Pastry, then the Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas from 1990 to 1991. In 1991 he moved to San Antonio, Texas to be the executive pastry chef at the four-star La Mansion Del Rio Hotel.

In 1992, he took the executive pastry chef position at the Omni Houston Hotel and Great Chefs caught up with him in 1994 to tape him there for their Great Chefs – Great Cities series with the Discovery Channel.

Since then, Chef Krizman has moved around as executive pastry chef at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida; Caneel Bay Resort on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands; ran Aramark’s pastry operations at the University of Tennessee; the Zermatt Resort, and finally the Peppermill Hotel Casino in Reno, Nevada up until 2014.  He has been consulting with his own firm since then for the past two years.
