Strawberries Romanoff
Pretty in pink — marinated strawberries are swirled in whipped cream and garnished with a whole berry. The elegance of this somewhat retro dessert shows why it remains popular.
Ingredients
- Strawberries - 1 pound, fresh, stemmed and diced
- Grand Marnier - 1/2 cup
- Cherry Brandy - 1/2 cup
- Heavy (whipping) cream - 2 pints
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Vanilla Extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh strawberries - 6 whole
Instructions
Put the strawberries in a glass or stainless steel bowl and pour the Grand Marnier and brandy over them; toss to coat. Marinate 1 hour. Whip the cream until soft peaks form. Sprinkle the sugar over the cream, add the vanilla, and continue beating to firm peaks. Drain the strawberries, reserving the marinating liquid. Fold the berries into the beaten cream. Swirl in some of the marinating liquid. Mound in goblets and garnish each with a whole strawberry.
