Chef Biography
Chef Karl – Heinz Mraz worked from 1958 to 1971 at his mother’s coffee shop in the 11th district. Then he opened his own Viennese “Gastwirtschaft” in the 22nd district before opening Mraz & Sohn with his son Markus (see Markus Mraz), in 1991.
In 1998, Great Chefs Television filmed Chef Karl preparing “Huehnerfluegel in Tempurateig” (Chicken Wings in Tempura) as an appetizer for ORF’s Great Chefs of Austria television series and Discovery Channel’s Great Chefs of the World (episode 166) television series.
Chef Karl Mraz passed away in 2012, but his son Markus has continued the tradition with his sons. Mraz & Sohn in Wien is a must stop.
