Chef Biography

Markus Mraz was born October 10, 1968 in Vienna and was raised working at his father, Karl’s, Gastwirtschaft in the 22nd district of Vienna. He then worked at several other Vienna restaurants in the 6th and 11th districts, as well as working under Great Chef Walter Jost at Tummlerhof in Seefeld, Tyrol.  In 1989 Chef Markus opened his own restaurant in the 9th district cooking Italian style, and in the winter worked in the film catering business.

In 1991 he began creating the “kitchen-art” at his father Karl’s restaurant, Mraz & Sohn.In 1998 Great Chefs paid a visit to film both Karl and Markus for their television seriesGreat Chefs of Austria for ORF, and Great Chefs of the World for the Discovery Channel.

Karl passed away in 2012, and Markus and his son, Manuel, have continued the successof Mraz & Sohn today.
