In the spirits industry, Patrón is a widely known brand of tequila and is one that frequents the top shelves of restaurants around the country. With that being said though, it doesn’t mean straight tequila is the only type of spirit Patrón can produce. To help dispel the myth that Patrón only makes tequila, allow us to present to you the liqueur, Patrón XO Cafe Incendio.

This liqueur that Patrón has released is an interesting style from what we typically see from liqueurs. Not only is the drink more than just a sweet mixer, it brings a new level of heat and spice not seen before.

One of the things that a drink like this can get wrong is balance. Sweetness can overwhelm spice and vice versa, but in the case of Patrón XO Cafe Incendio, the balance has been mastered perfectly. Mexican arbol chile is a core component of the liqueur as is Criollo chocolate, and together they enhance the Patrón Silver tequila beautifully.

Personally this is a type of liqueur that would go well with fall, winter and spring, but you may most enjoy it during the upcoming winter months. As you will no doubt want to try out some delicious recipes to see what ways you can utilize Cafe Incendio, we have a few you might consider for this 60 proof beverage.

The first recipe we’ll take a look at today is the Fire & Spice. To create this particular beverage you will need to have Patrón XO Cafe Incendio, Pyrat Rum, chilled espresso, maple syrup, chocolate bitters and coffee beans. In addition to those ingredients, you’ll also want to have ice, a shaker, strainer and chilled rocks glass on hand.

The first thing you will do is combine one ounce of Patrón XO Cafe Incendio, one ounce of Pyrat Rum, one and a half ounces of chilled espresso, one half ounce of maple syrup and a dash of chocolate bitters all into your shaker filled halfway with ice. Be sure to shake the contents thoroughly before straining the liquid into your chilled rocks glass. Make sure the glass doesn’t have any ice in it and feel free to garnish the drink with a few coffee beans on the side if you so choose.

The second recipe we are going to discuss is called the Venture. This particular drink will require you to have Patrón XO Cafe Incendio, Patrón Reposado, a medium bodied red wine, honey syrup, fresh lemon juice and cloves. Again, you will want to have ice, a shaker and strainer on hand. You will be using a margarita-type glass or a coupe glass if you have one available.

The first thing you will want to do is take five cloves and muddle them in your shaker until you feel they’re crumbled up into small enough pieces. Then go ahead and add in one ounce of Patrón XO Cafe Incendio, one ounce of Patrón Reposado, one half ounce of red wine, one half ounce of honey syrup and one half ounce of fresh lemon juice. Make sure you shake up the contents thoroughly before straining the liquid into your glass. As a garnish, feel free to drop in three cloves if you’d like.

You can pickup some Patrón XO Cafe Incendio now. It’s National Chocolate Day, so why not enjoy a little bit more sweetness in your life than you normally would?
